Approved Weapons

Weapons are a staple of Martial Arts training in most dojos across the globe, and excellence, skill and tenacity with weapons is the goal of this competitive session of the WWG Olympiad.

Weapons Combat

The weapons selected by WWG for battle are based on:

  • Wooden

  • Bladed

  • Chain / Rope

Selected (Approved) Weapons

  1. Bo-Staff: 6-Ft long wooden staff

  2. Jo-Staff: 4-Ft long wooden staff

  3. Escrima: Filipino derived 2 ½ Ft long rattan or wooden baton

  4. Kali Blades: Filipino derived knives, used sometimes with Escrima

  5. Tonfa: Okinawan derived wooden weapon

  6. Kama: Okinawan derived sickle

  7. Kusari-Gama: Okinawan derived sickle on a long wooded handle with a ball / chain

  8. Kusari-Fundo: Okinawan derived chain with a ball at both ends

  9. Sai: Okinawan derived weapon as defense against sword

  10. Katana: Samurai sword weapon

  11. Ninja-To: Ninja Sword weapon

  12. Kukri: Burmese derived machete

  13. Nunchaku: Okinawan derived weapon

  14. Yari-Spear: Japanese spear

  15. Naginata: Japanese bladed weapon attached to a long staff

  16. Tri-Sectional Staff: Chinese derived weapon

  17. Chinese WuShu Sword: Chinese derived sword

  18. Chinese Broad Sword: Chinese derived sword

  19. Chinese Butterfly Swords: Chinese derived double-swords

  20. Chinese Qiang Spear: Chinese derives spear with red tassel
