Striking Arts
Striking is a directed, forceful physical attack with a part of the human body (fist, palm, forearm, elbow, knee, shin or foot), intended to cause blunt trauma upon an opponent.

Grappling Arts
Grappling is a fighting technique based on throws, trips, sweeps, clinch fighting, ground fighting and submission holds. Grappling contests involve takedowns and ground control, and may end when a contestant concedes defeat or is caused to 'tap out' or is rendered unconscious by submission or choke-out.

Weapons
Weapons used in the world's martial arts can be classified either by type of weapon or by the martial arts system using them. Weapons used in martial arts have historically been farming tools adopted to be used as defensive weapons or weapons crafted specifically for war.
